AP Exam changed Me.

This will be my 1st Blog, and I'll be talking about my experiences of my first AP exam. I'm currently a sophomore in high school, and this school year, I planned on taking the AP Macroeconomic exam. It was definitely a new experience, not only with the materials covered but also with the depth that I needed to learn certain parts to understand the concepts fully. If you have taken any APs prior, or if you will, in the future, you probably also saw this big change of materials covered in any AP compared to the school curriculum. But, I didn't know this; I expected it to be like any other biology or chemistry exam that I might typically find in school until I realized the week before how much material there was to cover and how " cooked " I was. I thought to myself that I wouldn't see the light, no way in living hell would I ever be able to finish the material in time, no way on earth I would score a 5, and now way on earth I was going to be alive when the test scores came out. I thought I was cooked until I saw this one Instagram video that truly inspired me. It started off like any other video, talking about how students are lazy, etc, but the one thing that differed this video from the rest is how it gave me a solution, how i could continue and even with one week of time to take and prepare for the test, so I did.

Studying for this test was different from anything else; I remember vividly it was the evening of May 1st when I realized the test was on May 10th, and I'd only studied 1 unit, and there were 5 more. That evening was when I saw the video, that changed my perspective of things, never to give up when things might seem undoable. I remembered the video saying, "Force yourself to like it until you really like it." I thought the guy in the video was crazy; how can I force myself to like something when I hate it? Still, I tried, and that evening, I was able to do something different. I saw myself as the economy of the United States; if I could learn and do well on this test, then the economy would be saved, and if not, the economy would fail. Boom, just like that, I was somehow able to convince myself to study these units of the test, taking practice exams until I couldn't think anymore; I did this until the day before the test when I finally realized I was going to make the economy grow until it can't grow anymore on test day because I'm so prepared.

Test day came, and I went in there feeling confident; I pictured myself as a man wearing a suit walking into a JP Morgan business building when walking into that exam room. I was ready to make my economy grow.

After Test Day, Did I make the economy grow? Yes, I did; I cooked on the test instead of being cooked. But that's not the most important thing; this one AP exam taught me not to see something as hard or difficult just based on my first instincts or other's opinions. But rather try it, force yourself to like it, and don't give up no matter what, because that's what i realized the problem was. People give up not because they can't do it but because it's a lot of work. Force yourself to become the person that would study that test, be a scientist on your next science test, be a mathematician on your next math test, AND GO SAVE THE ECONOMY IF YOU ARE TAKING AP MACRO TEST.
